  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 12 tsp chili paste or Sriracha (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken or beef broth

For the Slaw:

  • 2 cups green cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup carrots, grated
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

For Serving:

  • Soft sandwich buns or brioche buns
  • Extra hoisin sauce or Sriracha (optional)

Instructions

Making the Pulled Pork

  1. Prepare the pork: Trim excess fat and cut into large chunks.
  2. Make the marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and chili paste.
  3. Slow cook: Place pork in a slow cooker, pour marinade over it, add broth, and cook on low for 6–8 hours until fork-tender.
  4. Shred the pork: Remove and shred with forks, mixing with remaining sauce.

Making the Slaw

  1. Prepare vegetables: Thinly slice cabbage, grate carrots, chop green onions and cilantro.
  2. Make the dressing: Whisk together rice vinegar, lime juice, honey, sesame oil, soy sauce, and sesame seeds.
