Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz egg noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 ½ cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- ¾ cup sour cream
- ½ cup milk
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- Cooking spray (for greasing the dish)
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F. Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Cook the Pasta: Boil egg noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Brown the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease and transfer beef to a plate.
- Sauté Vegetables: Melt butter in the skillet. Add onions and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and mushrooms, cooking until tender.
- Make the Sauce: Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms and mix well. Gradually add beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Simmer until thickened.
- Add Creaminess: Stir in Worcestershire sauce, sour cream, and milk until smooth and well combined.
- Combine Ingredients: Return beef to the skillet, then mix in the drained egg noodles. Stir until coated in the sauce.
- Assemble: Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Top with shredded cheese.
- Bake: Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and a dash of paprika before serving.
Notes
- Protein Swap: Use ground turkey or chicken instead of beef.
- Vegetarian: Replace meat with extra mushrooms or plant-based ground beef.
- Extra Creamy: Add a splash of heavy cream for a richer sauce.
- Cheese Varieties: Try Swiss, Monterey Jack, or Parmesan for different flavors.
- Gluten-Free: Use gluten-free noodles and cornstarch instead of flour.
