  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup mushrooms (button, cremini, or shiitake), sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar or honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients – Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Slice the mushrooms evenly. Mince the garlic and ginger.
  2. Make the Sauce – In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, cornstarch, water, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  3. Cook the Vegetables – Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Stir-Fry Mushrooms – Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 3-4 minutes until they soften and release their moisture.
  5. Add Broccoli – Toss in the broccoli florets and stir-fry for another 4-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender yet crisp.
  6. Incorporate the Sauce – Pour the sauce over the vegetables, stirring well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  7. Garnish and Serve – Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve immediately over rice or noodles.
