Description
Chocolate Easter Nests are festive no-bake treats made with melted chocolate, crunchy cereal or noodles, and candy eggs. These easy and adorable desserts are perfect for Easter celebrations and fun to make with kids!
Ingredients
Scale
- 200g chocolate (milk, dark, or white), chopped
- 2 tbsp butter (or coconut oil for a dairy-free option)
- 2 tbsp honey or golden syrup (or maple syrup for a vegan alternative)
- 4 cups cornflakes, shredded wheat, or chow mein noodles
- 1 cup candy eggs (mini eggs, jelly beans, or small Easter-themed candies)
- Optional: sprinkles or shredded coconut for decoration
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate Mixture: In a heatproof bowl, melt the chocolate, butter, and honey (or syrup) together. Use a double boiler or microwave in short intervals, stirring frequently until smooth.
- Prepare the Cereal Base: If using cornflakes or shredded wheat, lightly crush them into smaller pieces. Leave chow mein noodles whole for a more textured nest effect.
- Coat the Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the prepared cereal or noodles, gently stirring until everything is evenly coated.
- Shape the Nests: Spoon small portions of the chocolate-coated mixture onto a lined baking sheet. Use a spoon or your fingers to shape them into nest-like circles, creating an indentation in the center for the candy eggs.
- Add the Eggs: While the nests are still slightly warm, place a few candy eggs in the center of each nest.
- Let Them Set: Allow the nests to cool at room temperature or refrigerate them for faster setting. Once hardened, they are ready to serve.
Notes
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
- Freezing: Store in a single layer in an airtight container and freeze for up to 3 months. Let thaw at room temperature before serving.
- Customization: Use white or dark chocolate, swap honey for maple syrup, mix in crushed nuts or shredded coconut, or use gluten-free cereal for dietary needs.
