Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ribeye or flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese or provolone cheese, shredded
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the steak into thin strips. Slice bell peppers, onion, and mushrooms (if using), and mince the garlic. Set aside.
- Cook the Steak: Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add sliced steak and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir occasionally, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same skillet, add more oil or butter if needed. Sauté the onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms for 5-7 minutes until softened. Add garlic during the last minute.
- Create the Sauce: Add beef broth or water to deglaze the skillet. Stir to release any browned bits, then reduce the liquid slightly. Stir in Worcestershire sauce and heavy cream. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
- Add the Cheese: Reduce heat to low, add shredded cheese to the skillet, and stir until melted and creamy.
- Combine Steak and Veggies: Add the cooked steak back into the skillet, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for another 1-2 minutes to coat everything in the sauce.
- Serve: Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Cheese: Use mozzarella, Swiss, or pepper jack for a different flavor.
- Spicy: Add sliced jalapeños or a few dashes of hot sauce.
- Low-Carb/Keto: Serve without bread, or over cauliflower rice or zucchini noodles.
- Meat Substitutes: Use chicken or turkey breast for a leaner version.
