Creamy Garlic Sauce Potatoes

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6 servings

Description

Rich and comforting, creamy garlic sauce potatoes feature tender chunks of potato coated in a velvety garlic-infused sauce. This versatile side dish pairs beautifully with meats, fish, or vegetarian mains, making it perfect for dinner parties or weeknight meals.

Ingredients

  • Potatoes: 2 lbs, peeled and cut into even chunks
  • Butter: 3 tablespoons
  • Garlic cloves: 3, minced
  • Heavy cream: 1 cup
  • Milk: ½ cup
  • Parmesan cheese: ½ cup, grated
  • Fresh parsley: 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Salt: To taste
  • Black pepper: To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes:
Peel the potatoes and cut them into uniform chunks. Rinse under cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. Cook the Potatoes:
Place the potato chunks in a large pot. Cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook until fork-tender (about 15–20 minutes). Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Garlic Sauce:
In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
  4. Create the Cream Base:
Gradually stir in heavy cream and milk. Heat through without boiling, stirring continuously.
  5. Incorporate Cheese:
Stir in Parmesan cheese gradually until fully melted. Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Combine Potatoes and Sauce:
Add cooked potatoes to the skillet and toss gently to coat evenly in the creamy garlic sauce.
  7. Finish with Parsley:
Sprinkle chopped parsley on top for a burst of color and freshness.
  8. Serve and Enjoy:
Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy warm as a side dish with your favorite main course.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Reheat gently in a skillet over low heat, stirring occasionally. Add a splash of milk or cream if the sauce thickens.
  • Variations:
    • Add mozzarella or Gruyère for a cheesy twist.
    • Use fresh thyme, rosemary, or chives for an herbal flavor.
    • Opt for roasted potatoes for a crispy texture.
