  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cups cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken breasts dry. In a shallow bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Dredge the chicken in the flour mixture, shaking off the excess.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sear the chicken breasts until golden brown on both sides, about 4–5 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  3. Sauté onions: In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and cook until soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Make the gravy: Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer, scraping the skillet to deglaze. Stir in the heavy cream and butter, cooking until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Smother the chicken: Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, spooning the gravy over them. Cover and simmer on low heat for 20–25 minutes, until the chicken is fully cooked.
  6. Serve: Plate the cooked rice and spoon the creamy chicken and gravy over the top. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

  • For extra flavor, use bone-in chicken thighs instead of breasts.
