  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For Chocolate Ganache (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 6 oz dark chocolate, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare Pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and both sugars.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Blend & Add Coffee: Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until combined. Pour in the hot coffee and mix until smooth.
  5. Bake: Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool & Frost: Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost with cream cheese frosting or drizzle with chocolate ganache.
  7. Serve & Enjoy: Slice and serve as is or with a scoop of ice cream for extra indulgence.
