  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 2 cups 1x

Description

This Dill Pickle Hot Sauce combines tangy pickles with spicy peppers for a bold, flavorful kick. Perfect for burgers, tacos, and more, it’s easy to make and customize!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup pickle brine
  • 1/2 cup chopped dill pickles
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, sliced (remove seeds for less heat)
  • 1 habanero pepper, sliced (optional for extra heat)
  • 1/2 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Slice the jalapeños and habanero (if using). Chop the onion, dill pickles, and mince the garlic.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: In a saucepan over medium heat, add a splash of vinegar, onion, and garlic. Cook for 3-5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Simmer the Mixture: Add the peppers, pickles, mustard seeds, salt, sugar, and water. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing flavors to meld.
  4. Blend Until Smooth: Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. Adjust texture with more vinegar or pickle brine if needed.
  5. Final Adjustments: Stir in fresh dill and adjust seasoning with additional salt, sugar, or vinegar as desired.
  6. Bottle and Store: Pour into sterilized jars or bottles. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.

Notes

  • Mild Version: Use only jalapeños and remove seeds.
  • Extra Spicy: Add ghost peppers or additional habaneros.
  • Smoky Flavor: Roast the peppers before blending.
  • Sweeter Twist: Increase sugar slightly for a more balanced sweet-spicy profile.
