- Mayonnaise
- Dijon mustard
- Fresh parsley
- Lemon juice
- Red onion
- Garlic
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Cayenne pepper
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Salmon – If using fresh salmon, cook and flake it into small pieces. If using canned, drain and remove any bones or skin.
- Mix Ingredients – In a large bowl, combine salmon, eggs, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped parsley, lemon juice, finely diced red onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- Form the Patties – Shape the mixture into small patties, ensuring they are compact to hold together while frying.
- Heat the Oil – In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Croquettes – Place the patties into the skillet, cooking for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Serve – Transfer the croquettes to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil, then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- Baked Version – Bake at 400°F (200°C) for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- Air Fryer Method – Lightly spray the croquettes with oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes.
- Spicy Kick – Add extra cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce for more heat.
- Herb-Infused – Mix in fresh dill or chives for added freshness.
- Gluten-Free – Use almond flour or gluten-free breadcrumbs instead of regular breadcrumbs.
