Description

Indulge in the elegance of a French Apple Tart—a classic dessert with a flaky crust, tender apples, and a glossy apricot glaze. Perfect for any occasion, this easy apple tart recipe is beautifully simple and absolutely delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Pastry Crust:

  • 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, cold & diced
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp milk

For the Apple Filling:

  • 4 apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Glaze:

  • ¼ cup apricot jam
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

1. Prepare the Pastry Dough

1️⃣ In a food processor, pulse flour, sugar, and salt. Add cold butter, pulsing until it forms coarse crumbs.
2️⃣ Whisk egg and milk, then add to the processor. Pulse until dough forms.
3️⃣ Shape dough into a disc, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the Apple Filling

1️⃣ Peel, core, and slice apples ⅛-inch thick.
2️⃣ Toss with lemon juice to prevent browning.

3. Assemble the Tart

1️⃣ Roll out dough to ¼-inch thick and press into a tart pan.
2️⃣ Arrange apples in overlapping circles.
3️⃣ Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 45 minutes until golden brown.

4. Apply the Glaze

1️⃣ Heat apricot jam with water until smooth.
2️⃣ Brush over warm tart for a glossy finish.

🥧 Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

💡 Almond Cream Base – Add a frangipane layer for extra richness.
💡 Spiced Apples – Toss apples with cinnamon & nutmeg for warmth.
💡 Fruit Swap – Try pears, peaches, or plums instead of apples.
💡 Nutty Crunch – Sprinkle sliced almonds or walnuts before baking.
