Fritos Chili Cheese Salad is a crunchy, bold, and flavorful dish featuring chili cheese corn chips, fresh veggies, and a creamy dressing. Perfect for potlucks, game nights, or a quick meal, this easy salad is a crowd-pleaser with customizable variations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups Fritos chili cheese corn chips
  • 4 cups Romaine or iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1 cup Cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup Sour cream or ranch dressing
  • ¼ cup Green onions, sliced
  • ¼ cup Cilantro, chopped
  • Jalapeños, sliced (optional)
  • Cooked ground beef or shredded chicken (optional)

  • Avocado, diced (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Vegetables – Chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces, halve the cherry tomatoes, and thinly slice the red onion and green onions.
  • Mix the Base Ingredients – In a large salad bowl, combine lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, black beans, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  • Add the Dressing – Drizzle sour cream or ranch dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat the ingredients evenly.
  • Add Crunch and Flavor – Just before serving, mix in the Fritos chili cheese corn chips to retain their crunch.
  • Optional Protein Additions – If using cooked ground beef or shredded chicken, add it to the mix for a heartier salad.
  • Final Touches – Garnish with chopped cilantro, sliced jalapeños, diced avocado, and extra cheddar cheese if desired.

  • Serve Immediately – Enjoy the salad while the Fritos are still crispy for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Taco-Style Salad – Add seasoned ground beef and replace the dressing with salsa or taco sauce.
  • Spicy Version – Increase the heat with extra jalapeños, hot sauce, or pepper jack cheese.
  • Vegetarian Option – Skip the meat and add extra beans or grilled tofu for a plant-based version.
  • Southwest Twist – Mix in corn, black olives, and a squeeze of lime juice for a Tex-Mex flair.

  • Lighter Version – Use baked corn chips and Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
