Garlic Bread Rolls

  • Total Time: 2-3 hours
  • Yield: 12 rolls 1x

Description

Soft, fluffy garlic bread rolls infused with buttery garlic and fresh herbs. Perfectly golden and tender, these rolls complement pasta dishes, soups, or salads, and are a crowd-pleasing favorite for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or other herbs (optional)
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast:
Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.

  2. Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms. Adjust with flour or water if needed.

  3. Knead the Dough:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook.

  4. First Rise:
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.

  5. Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough, divide it into 12 equal portions, and shape each into a ball. Arrange in a greased baking dish, leaving space between rolls.

  6. Second Rise:
Cover the rolls and let rise for 30–45 minutes until slightly puffed.

  7. Prepare Garlic Butter:
Melt butter in a small pan, add minced garlic, and sauté for 1–2 minutes. Stir in parsley or herbs.

  8. Bake the Rolls:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with garlic butter, sprinkle Parmesan if desired, and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.

  9. Final Touch:
Brush the rolls with more garlic butter as they come out of the oven. Serve warm.
