Description
Garlic Butter Mushrooms are a quick and easy holiday side dish, packed with rich, buttery, and garlicky flavors. Perfect for Christmas and Thanksgiving!
Ingredients
- Fresh mushrooms (button, cremini, or baby bella)
- Unsalted butter
- Olive oil
- Garlic cloves
- Fresh thyme or parsley
- Lemon juice
- Salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Mushrooms – Clean the mushrooms by wiping them with a damp paper towel or brushing off any dirt. Avoid soaking them in water, as they absorb moisture. Trim the stems if necessary.
- Heat the Pan – In a large skillet, heat a combination of olive oil and butter over medium-high heat. The oil prevents the butter from burning while still providing rich flavor.
- Sauté the Mushrooms – Add the mushrooms to the pan in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for about 3–4 minutes until they develop a golden-brown crust.
- Stir and Continue Cooking – Stir the mushrooms and cook for another 3–4 minutes, allowing them to caramelize evenly.
- Add Garlic and Herbs – Reduce the heat to medium-low and add minced garlic and fresh thyme or parsley. Stir continuously for about 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
- Season and Finish – Season with salt, black pepper, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten up the flavors. Stir well.
- Serve Immediately – Transfer the garlic butter mushrooms to a serving dish and garnish with additional fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- Add White Wine – Deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine for extra depth.
- Spicy Kick – Sprinkle in red pepper flakes for a touch of heat.
- Cheesy Indulgence – Finish with a sprinkle of grated Parmesan for added richness.
- Vegan Option – Replace butter with plant-based alternatives like vegan butter or extra olive oil.
- Creamy Garlic Mushrooms – Stir in a splash of heavy cream or cream cheese for a luscious sauce.
