Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Set oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a loaf pan or line with parchment paper.
  • Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk applesauce, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vegetable oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Blend the Mixtures: Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Add Mix-ins: Fold in chopped nuts and dried fruit if using.
  • Bake: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan, smooth the top, and bake for 50-60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
