  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening sauce)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

  • Pat the chicken dry and season with salt and pepper.
  • If using boneless chicken, slice into even pieces.

Step 2: Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  • In a bowl, whisk together honey, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, and water.
  • If using cornstarch, mix with 1 tbsp water to create a slurry and set aside.

Step 3: Cook the Chicken

  • For Skillet Cooking:
    • Heat oil/butter in a pan over medium heat.
    • Cook chicken for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown.
    • Remove chicken and set aside.
  • For Oven-Baking:
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Arrange chicken in a baking dish and pour sauce over it.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, basting occasionally.
  • For Slow Cooker:
    • Place chicken in slow cooker and pour sauce over it.
    • Cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours.

Step 4: Add the Sauce

  • Pour sauce into the pan and simmer until thickened.
  • Stir in cornstarch slurry if using, and cook until desired consistency is reached.
  • Return chicken to the pan and coat with sauce.

Step 5: Serve

  • Transfer chicken to a serving plate.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  • Serve with steamed rice, vegetables, or noodles.
