Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
- 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1-inch Fresh Ginger (grated)
- 2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
- 2 Green Onions (chopped)
- 2 cups Rice (white, brown, or jasmine)
- 4 Eggs
- 1 Cucumber (thinly sliced)
- 1 Carrot (thinly sliced into matchsticks)
- 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds (optional)
- 1 tbsp Gochujang (optional for spice)
Instructions
- Prepare the Rice: Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, for 7–8 minutes until browned.
- Make the Sauce: Add soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes to the cooked beef. Stir well, let simmer for 2-3 minutes, and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef simmers, slice the cucumber and carrot into matchsticks. Chop the green onions and set aside.
- Fry the Eggs: In a separate pan, heat oil over medium heat. Crack in the eggs and cook to your desired doneness (sunny-side-up or over-easy).
- Assemble the Bowl: Start with a base of rice, top with the beef mixture, then add the fresh vegetables and fried egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Serve & Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, bold flavors of your Korean Ground Beef Bowl.
Notes
- Vegetarian Version: Use tofu, tempeh, or TVP instead of ground beef.
- Gluten-Free: Swap soy sauce for tamari or coconut aminos.
- Spicy: Add gochujang or more red pepper flakes for extra heat.
- Additional Veggies: Add bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach for extra flavor and nutrients.
