  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

A quick and flavorful Korean Ground Beef Bowl with savory ground beef simmered in a rich sauce, served over rice with fresh vegetables, and topped with a fried egg. A delicious and easy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 3 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1-inch Fresh Ginger (grated)
  • 2 Garlic Cloves (minced)
  • 2 Green Onions (chopped)
  • 2 cups Rice (white, brown, or jasmine)
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 Cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1 Carrot (thinly sliced into matchsticks)
  • 1 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds (optional)

  • 1 tbsp Gochujang (optional for spice)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Rice: Cook the rice according to package instructions and set aside.
  • Cook the Ground Beef: Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart, for 7–8 minutes until browned.
  • Make the Sauce: Add soy sauce, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes to the cooked beef. Stir well, let simmer for 2-3 minutes, and adjust seasoning if needed.
  • Prepare the Vegetables: While the beef simmers, slice the cucumber and carrot into matchsticks. Chop the green onions and set aside.
  • Fry the Eggs: In a separate pan, heat oil over medium heat. Crack in the eggs and cook to your desired doneness (sunny-side-up or over-easy).
  • Assemble the Bowl: Start with a base of rice, top with the beef mixture, then add the fresh vegetables and fried egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  • Serve & Enjoy: Serve immediately and enjoy the rich, bold flavors of your Korean Ground Beef Bowl.

Notes

  • Vegetarian Version: Use tofu, tempeh, or TVP instead of ground beef.
  • Gluten-Free: Swap soy sauce for tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Spicy: Add gochujang or more red pepper flakes for extra heat.
  • Additional Veggies: Add bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach for extra flavor and nutrients.
