Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz noodles (lo mein, spaghetti, or rice noodles)
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup carrots, julienned (optional)
  • 1/2 cup bell peppers, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Noodles: Prepare noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Brown the Beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into crumbles.
  3. Add Aromatics: Stir in garlic and ginger, cooking for about a minute until fragrant.
  4. Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch dissolved in water.
  5. Combine Ingredients: Pour the sauce over the beef and stir well. Let it simmer until thickened.
  6. Add Vegetables (Optional): Stir in carrots and bell peppers, cooking for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.
  7. Toss with Noodles: Add cooked noodles to the skillet and mix until evenly coated in sauce.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Top with green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Protein Swap: Substitute ground beef with ground chicken, turkey, or pork.
  • Gluten-Free: Use tamari or coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and gluten-free noodles.
  • Low-Carb: Swap noodles for zucchini noodles or shirataki noodles.
  • Spicy Kick: Add sriracha or extra red pepper flakes.
  • Extra Veggies: Include mushrooms, snow peas, or baby spinach for added nutrition.
