Scale
- 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 bell peppers (red, green, or yellow), sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup beef broth or water
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
- Cooked rice for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, toss thinly sliced beef with soy sauce, cornstarch, and black pepper. Let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
- Cook the Beef: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and sear for 1-2 minutes per side until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Stir in bell peppers and onion, cooking for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened. Add garlic and ginger, cooking for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Combine Everything: Return beef to the pan and pour in the prepared sauce. Stir well and allow the sauce to thicken for about 2 minutes.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle with sesame oil, stir, and garnish with green onions. Serve hot over rice or your preferred base
