Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Shrimp:
    • 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp lime juice
    • 1 tsp chili powder
    • 1/2 tsp cumin
    • 1/2 tsp paprika
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • For the Tacos:
    • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
    • 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
    • 1 avocado, sliced
    • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
    • 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
    • 1/4 cup cotija or feta cheese
  • For the Sauce:
    • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
    • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
    • 1 tsp lime zest
    • 1 tsp hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Shrimp: Pat dry the shrimp. In a bowl, mix shrimp with olive oil, garlic, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
  2. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, lime zest, and hot sauce. Adjust seasoning as needed.
  4. Prepare the Tortillas: Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or over an open flame for about 30 seconds per side until lightly charred.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Place shrimp on each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, sliced avocado, chopped cilantro, and jalapeño slices if using. Drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with cotija or feta cheese.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with extra lime wedges.

Notes

  • Spicy Shrimp Tacos: Add extra chili powder, cayenne, or hot sauce.
  • Grilled Shrimp Tacos: Grill the shrimp instead of pan-frying for a smoky taste.
  • Mango Salsa: Add a fresh mango salsa with diced mango, red onion, and lime juice.
  • Low-Carb Option: Use lettuce wraps instead of tortillas.
  • Creamy Avocado Sauce: Blend avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and garlic for an alternative sauce.
