Ingredients
Scale
- For the Shrimp:
- 1 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- For the Tacos:
- 8 small corn or flour tortillas
- 1 cup red cabbage, shredded
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 1 jalapeño, sliced (optional)
- 1/4 cup cotija or feta cheese
- For the Sauce:
- 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp lime zest
- 1 tsp hot sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the Shrimp: Pat dry the shrimp. In a bowl, mix shrimp with olive oil, garlic, lime juice, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
- Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream (or Greek yogurt), mayonnaise, lime zest, and hot sauce. Adjust seasoning as needed.
- Prepare the Tortillas: Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or over an open flame for about 30 seconds per side until lightly charred.
- Assemble the Tacos: Place shrimp on each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, sliced avocado, chopped cilantro, and jalapeño slices if using. Drizzle with sauce and sprinkle with cotija or feta cheese.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with extra lime wedges.
Notes
- Spicy Shrimp Tacos: Add extra chili powder, cayenne, or hot sauce.
- Grilled Shrimp Tacos: Grill the shrimp instead of pan-frying for a smoky taste.
- Mango Salsa: Add a fresh mango salsa with diced mango, red onion, and lime juice.
- Low-Carb Option: Use lettuce wraps instead of tortillas.
- Creamy Avocado Sauce: Blend avocado, Greek yogurt, lime juice, and garlic for an alternative sauce.
