Description
Luxurious, restaurant-quality steakhouse garlic butter mushrooms are the perfect side dish or topping, featuring earthy mushrooms sautéed in rich, savory garlic butter. Quick, easy, and versatile for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 16 oz (1 lb) button, cremini, or baby bella mushrooms
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1–2 tsp fresh thyme or parsley, chopped (or ½–1 tsp dried)
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Optional: 2 tbsp white wine or 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
Instructions
- Prepare Mushrooms: Clean mushrooms with a damp cloth or soft brush. Trim stems if needed and leave them whole, or slice in halves/quarters depending on size.
- Heat the Pan: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to prevent butter from burning.
- Sauté Mushrooms: Add mushrooms to the skillet and cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes to brown. Stir and cook another 4–5 minutes until they release moisture.
- Add Garlic and Butter: Reduce heat slightly, add minced garlic and butter. Stir to coat mushrooms evenly. Cook 2–3 minutes until garlic is fragrant but not browned.
- Season: Add salt, pepper, and herbs. Stir to combine.
- Optional Deglaze: Add white wine or balsamic vinegar, stirring to scrape browned bits. Cook 1–2 minutes until reduced.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with extra herbs if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- Storage: Cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheating: Reheat in a skillet over medium heat with a small pat of butter or splash of water. Avoid microwaving to maintain texture.
- Tips: Cook mushrooms over medium-high heat and avoid overcrowding the pan for proper browning.
