Ingredients

Scale
  • Beef & Marinade:

    • 12 oz thinly sliced beef (sirloin or flank steak)
    • 1 tbsp soy sauce
    • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • Sauce:

    • 3 tbsp soy sauce
    • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
    • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
    • 1 tbsp brown sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp grated ginger
    • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
    • 1 tsp sesame oil
    • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Other Ingredients:

    • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 8 oz cooked noodles (egg noodles or rice noodles)
    • 2 scallions, chopped
    • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
    • ½ cup bell peppers, thinly sliced (optional)
    • ½ cup carrots, julienned (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Beef: In a bowl, mix sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  • Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes. Set aside.
  • Cook the Beef: Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil, then cook the beef in batches, searing for 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  • Cook the Vegetables (if using): In the same pan, add a bit more oil and stir-fry bell peppers and carrots until slightly softened.
  • Combine Everything: Return beef to the pan, pour in the prepared sauce, and stir to coat. Simmer for 2 minutes until thickened.
  • Add the Noodles: Toss in the cooked noodles and mix well.
  • Garnish & Serve: Top with chopped scallions and sesame seeds. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Reheating: Heat in a pan with a splash of water or soy sauce, or microwave for 1-2 minutes, stirring halfway.
  • Freezing: Not recommended due to texture changes in noodles.
