Description
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp lemon zest
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- Fresh parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chicken – Pat the chicken dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear. If the breasts are thick, slice them in half horizontally or pound them to an even thickness.
- Season the Chicken – Generously coat both sides with black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and lemon zest.
- Sear the Chicken – Heat olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
- Deglaze the Pan – Pour in chicken broth and lemon juice, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to create a light sauce.
- Finish Cooking – Spoon the sauce over the chicken, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
- Serve and Enjoy – Pair with your favorite sides and serve immediately.
Notes
- Spicy Kick – Add red pepper flakes or cayenne for extra heat.
- Herb-Infused – Mix in fresh thyme or rosemary for an aromatic twist.
- Creamy Version – Stir in a splash of heavy cream or Greek yogurt to make a rich sauce.
- Garlic Butter Flavor – Use garlic butter instead of olive oil for an extra depth of flavor.
- Citrus Blend – Mix in orange or lime zest for a unique citrus combination.
