Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (8 oz) crescent roll dough
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1–2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the filling – In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon and granulated sugar.
- Roll out the dough – Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into rectangles by pinching the seams of two triangles together.
- Butter and sprinkle – Brush melted butter over the surface of each rectangle, then generously sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Fold and cut – Fold each rectangle in half lengthwise, pressing gently to seal, then cut into strips.
- Twist and shape – Take each strip and twist it several times before placing it on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake – Place in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Make the glaze – While the twists bake, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and a little milk until smooth.
- Drizzle and serve – Once baked, let the twists cool slightly before drizzling with glaze. Serve warm.
Notes
- Nutty addition – Add finely chopped pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon-sugar mixture for extra texture.
- Chocolate twist – Sprinkle mini chocolate chips inside before twisting for a chocolaty surprise.
- Maple glaze – Swap the vanilla extract in the glaze for maple syrup for a richer flavor.
- Savory version – Skip the sugar and cinnamon, and instead fill with cheese and herbs for a savory twist.
- Pumpkin spice flavor – Substitute cinnamon with pumpkin spice for a fall-inspired treat.
