- 1/2 lb shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 12 oz pasta (fettuccine or penne recommended)
- 1 bunch asparagus spears
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Asparagus
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Trim the woody ends off the asparagus and place them on a baking sheet.
- Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and toss to coat.
- Roast for 12-15 minutes until tender and slightly charred.
Step 2: Cook the Steak
- Season the steak with salt, black pepper, paprika, and a dash of red pepper flakes if desired.
- Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
- Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side (for medium-rare) or longer based on your preference.
- Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.
Step 3: Cook the Shrimp
- In the same skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter.
- Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
- Toss in the shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and set aside.
Step 4: Prepare the Pasta and Sauce
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt another tablespoon of butter and add garlic.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine.
- Add grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
- Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of paprika.
Step 5: Assemble the Dish
- Add the cooked pasta to the creamy sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
- Slice the rested steak into strips and place them on top of the pasta.
- Arrange the shrimp over the pasta as well.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with the roasted asparagus on the side.
