  • 12 oz pasta (fettuccine or penne recommended)
  • 1 bunch asparagus spears
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp parsley, chopped

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Asparagus

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Trim the woody ends off the asparagus and place them on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper, and toss to coat.
  4. Roast for 12-15 minutes until tender and slightly charred.

Step 2: Cook the Steak

  1. Season the steak with salt, black pepper, paprika, and a dash of red pepper flakes if desired.
  2. Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat and add a drizzle of olive oil.
  3. Cook the steak for 3-4 minutes per side (for medium-rare) or longer based on your preference.
  4. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for at least 5 minutes before slicing.

Step 3: Cook the Shrimp

  1. In the same skillet, melt a tablespoon of butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Toss in the shrimp and cook for about 2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  4. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the shrimp and set aside.

Step 4: Prepare the Pasta and Sauce

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, melt another tablespoon of butter and add garlic.
  3. Pour in the heavy cream, stirring gently to combine.
  4. Add grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and a pinch of paprika.

Step 5: Assemble the Dish

  1. Add the cooked pasta to the creamy sauce, tossing to coat evenly.
  2. Slice the rested steak into strips and place them on top of the pasta.
  3. Arrange the shrimp over the pasta as well.
  4. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with the roasted asparagus on the side.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add cayenne pepper or extra red pepper flakes for a spicier version.
  • Lighter Option: Substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or a dairy-free alternative.
  • Different Protein: Swap steak for grilled chicken or salmon if preferred.
  • Extra Vegetables: Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or cherry tomatoes for more texture and flavor.
