Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced
- 4 cups cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, minced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 carrot, julienned
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients – Thinly slice the chicken and cabbage. Mince the garlic and ginger. Julienne the carrot and chop the green onions.
- Cook the chicken – Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and season with salt and pepper. Stir-fry until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Sauté the aromatics – In the same pan, add a bit more oil if needed. Sauté garlic and ginger until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Cook the vegetables – Add the cabbage and carrots to the pan. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they start to soften but remain crisp.
- Combine everything – Return the cooked chicken to the pan. Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a drizzle of sesame oil. Toss well to coat everything evenly.
- Finish and serve – Stir in the chopped green onions and a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat. Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
- Swap the protein – Use shrimp, beef, pork, or tofu instead of chicken.
- Make it spicy – Add more red pepper flakes or a dash of sriracha.
- Low-carb option – Serve over cauliflower rice or enjoy as is.
- Extra veggies – Add bell peppers, mushrooms, or snap peas for more variety.
