Luxurious yet simple, Garlic Butter Baked Scallops feature tender scallops baked in a rich garlic butter sauce with golden breadcrumbs and a touch of lemon. A quick, elegant dish for entertaining or weeknight meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) scallops, rinsed and patted dry
  • 4 tbsp (56 g) butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/3 cup (40 g) breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup (25 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Prepare Scallops: Rinse scallops under cold water and pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and stir in olive oil, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  4. Arrange Scallops: Place scallops in a single layer in the greased baking dish. Pour the garlic butter mixture evenly over the scallops, ensuring each is coated.
  5. Add Topping: In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. Sprinkle over the scallops for a crispy topping.
  6. Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until scallops are opaque and breadcrumbs are golden brown. Avoid overcooking to maintain tenderness.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges for an extra zesty finish.

Notes

  • Gluten-Free Option: Use gluten-free breadcrumbs or almond flour.
  • Spicy Variation: Add red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Wine Addition: A splash of white wine in the garlic butter mixture adds depth.
  • Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
  • Reheating: Warm scallops in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 8-10 minutes.
