Garlic Flatbread in the Air Fryer

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 2-4 flatbreads 1x

Description

Crispy, chewy, and infused with aromatic garlic, this air fryer garlic flatbread is quick, versatile, and perfect as a side or the main event. A healthier alternative to fried flatbreads with golden, restaurant-quality results.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plain or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced or finely grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix in yogurt until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead on a floured surface for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
  2. Rest the Dough:
    • Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 15-20 minutes to relax the gluten.
  3. Infuse the Garlic Oil:
    • Heat olive oil over low heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant but not browned. Stir in parsley or herbs if desired, then set aside.
  4. Shape the Flatbreads:
    • Divide dough into 2-4 portions, depending on desired size. Roll each piece into a thin, round or oval shape (~1/8 inch thick).
  5. Brush with Garlic Oil:
    • Lightly brush one side of each flatbread with the garlic oil.
  6. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Set the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 3-5 minutes.
  7. Cook the Flatbreads:
    • Place one flatbread, garlic oil side up, into the air fryer basket. Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden and slightly puffed.
    • Flip, brush the other side with garlic oil, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until crispy and golden.
  8. Repeat and Serve:
    • Keep cooked flatbreads warm under a towel and repeat with remaining portions.
    • Serve warm with dips, soups, or as a base for toppings.

Notes

  • Storage: Wrap leftovers in foil or an airtight container. Store at room temperature (2 days), in the fridge (5 days), or freeze (2 months).
  • Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 1-2 minutes or warm in a skillet.
  • Tips:
    • Roll dough thin for crispier results.
    • Add red chili flakes to garlic oil for heat.
    • For a gluten-free option, use a gluten-free flour blend.
