- 1 large bag tortilla chips
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 ½ cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
For Toppings:
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 green onions, sliced
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
- 1 small tomato, diced
- 1 avocado, sliced
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Chili: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Sauté the Aromatics: Add chopped onions and minced garlic. Cook until softened and fragrant.
- Add Seasonings & Tomatoes: Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Add diced tomatoes and tomato paste, mixing well.
- Incorporate the Beans & Simmer: Add black beans and jalapeños. Let simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Assemble the Nachos: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange tortilla chips on a large baking sheet. Spoon chili over the chips and top with shredded cheeses.
- Bake Until Melted: Bake for 10 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and melted.
- Add Fresh Toppings: Remove from the oven and garnish with diced tomatoes, avocado, green onions, and cilantro.
