Oven Baked Teriyaki Salmon

  • Total Time: 40-50 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

Oven Baked Teriyaki Salmon is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish featuring a homemade sweet and savory teriyaki glaze. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep, this tender, flaky salmon pairs beautifully with rice, vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, grated ginger, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Add this to the sauce, stirring continuously until it thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  4. Marinate the Salmon: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a ziplock bag. Pour half of the teriyaki sauce over the salmon, ensuring each fillet is coated evenly. Let it marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  5. Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Transfer the marinated salmon fillets to the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down. Reserve the remaining marinade for basting.
  6. Bake the Salmon: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  7. Baste for Extra Flavor: Halfway through baking, brush additional teriyaki sauce over the fillets.
  8. Garnish and Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven, sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve hot with rice, steamed vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Spicy Kick: Add red pepper flakes or sriracha.
  • Citrus Twist: Add fresh orange or lime juice.
  • Gluten-Free: Use tamari or coconut aminos.
  • Sugar-Free Alternative: Swap brown sugar with a sugar substitute.
  • Grilled Version: Grill over medium heat for a smoky flavor.
